Ambassador H. Mutuma Kathurima, EBS was amongst Ambassadors and representatives of Eighty Eight countries who were invited by President Georgi Parvanov to the Republic of Bulgaria’s Annual New Year Party held in the National Museum of Bulgaria’s capital city, Sofia.

While addressing the Heads of Mission, President Parvanov indicated his country’s desire to concentrate on deepening bilateral relations now that the task of Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union had been accomplished in January, 2007. During his official consultations, Ambassador Kathurima was informed that Bulgaria was considering reopening its Embassy in Nairobi.

Last year, Hon. Feim Chaushev, Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs made an official visit to Kenya and conferred with various government officials including Hon. Raphael Tuju, the Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Embassy is pursuing the appointment of an Honorary Consul in Sofia in order to enhance diplomatic relations and promote tourism, trade and investments.
