KENYA TOP LOUNGE CELEBRATIONS IN SUNDERN

On Friday 10th August 2007, Ambassador, H. Mutuma Kathurima accompanied by some Staff Members of the Kenya Embassy participated in the Annual Kenya Top Lounge Party, at the invitation of Mr. Severin Schulte, Managing Director, Severin Touristik GmbH, one of the biggest investors in tourism in Kenya from Germany. Their investments in Kenya include Severin Sea Lodge, Jahazi Marine Club and Severin Safari Camp. The party is an annual event hosted by the Severin Group, to celebrate Kenya as a tourist attraction. Last year, the event was held at the Sunderland Hotel in Sundern, and graced by the Minister for Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Mr. Morris Dzoro, the Ambassador and other officials from the Kenya Embassy in Germany.

This year’s Top Lounge Party was held at the Meschelde Schloss, which is nearly 400 years old castle. The castle is located in Sundern, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Mr. Judah Abekah, Deputy Director, Corporate Services in the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS), was the Guest of Honour. He was representing Dr. Julius Kipng’etich the Director KWS. In his remarks, Mr. Abekeh gave an overview of the functions of the KWS in managing Kenya’s 59 national parks under its ambit and a brief overview of Kenya’s diverse touristic attractions.

The Top Lounge Party attracted over 200 guests drawn from tourism and travel agencies, and served as an opportunity for them to informally exchange ideas and get information on Kenya. Diverse promotional material on Kenya’s attractions was availed to the guests

The Kenya Tourist Board was represented by Mr. Tobias Hanneman from TMR Romberg TB, the Boards marketing representatives in Germany.
