BMW Berlin Marathon on 29th September

The 46th Berlin Marathon will take place on Sunday, 29th September 2019, from 9:15 hrs to 15:30 hrs (the first Kenyan runners are expected to finish slightly above two hours). The starting/finishing point will be along the Straße des 17 Juni about 200 metres from the finish line near the Brandenburger Tor. 

The Berlin Marathon is a major running and sporting event held annually in Berlin, Germany. This year, Kenya will be represented by 8 elite athletes. 

The Kenyan Diaspora Community is encouraged to turn up at the event in Kenyan colours to cheer our athletes and sports ambassadors. More details on the Marathon's route and other information is available on: www.bmw-berlin-marathon.com.

 

APPLICATION FOR THE EAST AFRICAN e-PASSPORT

JULY 2019 : This is to notify the Kenyan Diaspora that the Department of Immigration Services has rolled out the e-Passport application submission and biometrics capture service for Kenyans in Diaspora at the Embassy of Kenya in Berlin, Germany. You can still use your manual passport until 1st March 2020 after which it will be rendered invalid.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. Passport applicants who are 18 and above must be holders of a valid Kenya National Identity Card (ID card) to be able to apply. Parents who hold a valid ID card can apply for their children who are under the age of 18.

2. If you do not have an ID card or you lost it and only have a copy, you must obtain an ID card first before applying for the ePassport. The Kenya Embassy in Berlin does not issue ID cards. You must travel to Kenya to register and be issued the ID card.

3. All passport applications must be made on the Department of Immigration Services page on www.ecitizen.go.ke You will have to enter your ID card number to be able to register on eCitizen and then apply for the passport.

4. In order to register successfully, a verification code will be sent on the number you enter. Currently, the codes are only sent to Kenyan mobile phone numbers that have never been registered on eCitizen. You must therefore enter an active Kenyan number on the telephone number field (you can enter the number of a relative or friend who has never held a passport)

5. Applicants who hold a manual passport should apply for a REPLACEMENT on eCitizen and not for a NEW PASSPORT!!!! 

6. When entering foreign alphabet letters, e.g. Ä,Ö,Ü, these letters should be anglicized to AE, OE and UE. There should not be any commas or any other symbols on the application entries.

7. Ensure that you enter the correct country and place of birth and country of residence.

8. You can make corrections or edit your ePassport application through the APPLICATION HISTORY page by clicking on the EDIT button.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

Once you have successfully applied and paid online, download the relevant application checklist below and after obtaining all the necessary requirements, book an appointment through your ecitizen account to submit the application and biometrics capture in Berlin. 

When booking your appointment on ecitizen, kindly note that the Embassy is closed on all German and Kenyan public holiday and also between Christmas and the New Year. Do not make any bookings on these dates:

3rd October -  Public Holiday in Germany

10th October -  Public Holiday in Kenya

21st October - Public Holiday in Kenya

12th December - Public Holiday in Kenya

23rd December 2019 - 5th January 2020 - Christmas/ New Year

HOW TO GET YOUR PASSPORT ONCE IT HAS ARRIVED FROM KENYA

You can track your passport progress through your eCitizen account by entering the tracking number on your Photo Token. Once you have been notified that the ePassport is ready, you can choose to personally pick it up after scheduling a pick-up appointment through your eCitizen account or do as follows:

Applicants from Germany:

If you wish to have your passports posted, you should send the following via registered mail (Einschreinben) in a B4-size envelope, addressed to the Embassy.

1. Your current passport ,

2. A photocopy of the Photo Token

3. 1 DHL EXPRESSEASY PREPAID NATIONAL envelope (buy it from the Deutsche Post) and enter your full details under the EMPFÄNGER field

 Applicants from outside Germany:

Your should send the following to the Embassy via any courier service of your choice:

1. Your current passport

2. A photocopy of the Photo Token

3. A printed shipping label from any international couriers service of your choice for posting your passports back to you.
